Claire Kariya Dietitian Blenderized Tube Feeding Blended Diet

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog! I made a video for Instagram where I explained the differences between low profile feeding tubes (also know as buttons or Mic-keys) and standard long shaft style feeding tubes. If you're curious to learn about this topic, check out the video below.

If you like learning by watching videos, check out my Blended Diet Online Course. There are 12 exclusive videos covering everything you need to know about blended diets. The videos are much more polished than the one that you just watched, and there are hands on demonstrations and expert tips on how to make nutritious blended meals at home. Hi there Claire! I have a question:

I just had a low profile MicKey installed and I love it. But there is one problem. It is size FR 18 and I notice that the coupling is much smaller in OD. This makes it difficult for me to add water or formula and simply gravity feed it as I was able to do with my previous tube. Instead, I am forced to use a plunger with the syringe.

So my question is whether I should go for a larger diameter version, maybe FR24, which may have less constriction at the coupling point, thereby allowing for gravity feed. Also, I sometimes use a powdered food call Huel (mixed with water of course)…
